Bulgaria and Serbia ink EU-funded pipeline deal

Serbian and Bulgarian PMs Ivica Dačić and Boyko Borisov signed a EUR 120 million contract for the construction of a gas pipeline.

The funds for the construction of the 180 km-long pipeline between Serbia and Bulgaria with the capacity of 1.8 billion cubic meters per year will be secured from EU funds.

The goal of this project, it has been announced, is “to avoid the 2009 crisis, when big parts of Southeast Europe, including Bulgaria and Serbia, were hit by suspension of gas supply”.
