According to him, the priorities have been already formed which are crucial and decisive for the Council of Europe with Ukraine focused on their implementation, in particular, the protection of children rights, human rights, rule of law and development of local democracy. As referred to the implementation of activities in Ukraine to ensure the rights of children, Lytvyn said that on May 24-25 Kyiv hosted an international conference devoted to countering violence against children to discuss ways to solve this problem in Ukraine and internationally in general. The parliament speaker commented on the aspects of the work of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe during the Turkish presidency. According to the chairman of the Ukrainian parliament, the Turkish presidency has focused on the political aspects of the PACE, and thus the policy of reforming the organization was supported. According to Lytvyn, this should ensure the PACE’s compliance with the challenges before Europe and the world. “Deepening the search for ways of cooperation of inter-parliamentary and inter-governmental sectors in Europe will enable us to rapidly raise credibility of the Council of Europe,” he said.
