Ukraine’s Gross Foreign Debt Increased

Ukraine’s gross external debt rose 5.1% in the first half of the year after a Eurobond sale and on a weaker hryvnia, the central bank said. Debt totalled USD 123.4 billion as of July 1, compared with USD 117.3 billion at the beginning of the year. The government’s foreign debt rose to USD 27.3 billion from USD 24.9 billion on January 1. Foreign borrowing by the Ukrainian banks declined to USD 27.5 billion from USD 28.1 billion at the beginning of the year.
